Victory
Victory is a female Golden Eagle born in April 1984. She was found under her nest in Death Valley, CA and taken to the Los Angeles Zoo.
Because she had so much human contact at a very young age, she does not realize that she is a bird, but rather thinks that she is a human. This phenomenon is known as human imprinting and occurs during a period of time when the bird is still in the nest and learns it's identity. Unfortunately, this leaves the bird non-releasable and unable to survive in the wild.
On 10/10/84 she was taken to Weeki Wachee Springs in Spring Hill, FL. She was used in the birds of prey show there.
Victory arrived at the American Eagle Foundation (formerly National Foundation to Protect America's Eagles) in Pigeon Forge, TN on 4/12/99, after Weeki Wachee closed their bird show. She is a large and magnificent bird who can be very menacing when she wants to be. Victory is used in our Wings of America educational programs at Dollywood theme park. She also traveled to Branson, MO in 1999 for two months of our Wings Across America Birds of Prey Show at Silver Dollar City.
